Jason Ginter and Danielle Schmiemann have both played for University of Alberta (Schmiemann recently graduated), but they also have deep roots in DC. While Ginter is from DC, Schmiemann’s fiance is also from here.

“We’re kind of a hometown team, because we have a lot of family and friends there,” says Schmiemann.

“It’s going to be nice to come to our old stomping grounds, our old home club in Dawson Creek, to come and join a relatively young field up there in Dawson Creek and play a really fast paced game of curling,” says Ginter.

Kyler Kleibrink and Chantele Broderson hail from Glencoe Club (Calgary) and Saville.

Evan Van Amsterdam hails out of Saville as well, and will play with a to be determined partner.

From the Edmonton Garrison club, Ryan Withycombe and Rhonda Varnes figure to be among the top seeds as well.

“You’ve got the best of the best that will be there and representing their clubs and regions,” says Schmiemann.

“I’m really excited, I think it will be lots of fun.”
