The 2020 Coy Cup in Quesnel, BC has been cancelled.
“We had hoped to defend our title as Coy Cup Champions, but with the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and the announcements by Hockey Canada and B.C. Hockey, the tournament has been cancelled,” noted Canucks general manager Lincoln Carriere this morning.
The NPHL Campbell Cup series between Dawson Creek and Grande Prairie is currently postponed.
“We have agreed with the NPHL and the Grande Prairie Athletic’s to postpone the series and re-evaluate circumstances over the coming weeks. Hockey Canada, Hockey Alberta and B.C. Hockey will all have to agree before we go on,” he added.
Carriere and league president, Jack McAvoy, will be in touch with the appropriate parties to do whatever they can to make the finals still happen.
“We would like to thank all our fans, support staff, players and volunteers for everything up to this point. Our executive and coaching staff is very proud of our players and team. We are hoping to make the best of an unfortunate situation and compete for the Campbell Cup as soon as we are given permission.”
