Senior Canucks return home tonight after 7-1 loss in game two

It wasn’t pretty as the Dawson Creek Senior Canucks were dominated in a 7-1 loss — their first of the playoffs — to the Grande Prairie Athletics in game two of the NPHL FInals on the road, an occurrence that was very rare this season. (In the regular season, they only lost four games, and only once by a score of more than three goals).

The upside is they won’t have much time to dwell on it, with a chance to retake the series lead with a home game tonight.

The Senior Canucks were down 2-0 after one, and after that allowed five more goals — four in the second period.

Josh Round saw his first playoff action this season in relief of Kenton White after GP’s fourth goal, in the second period.

Kevin Hope spoiled the Athletics’ shutout bid with a goal with eight seconds left in the game.

Shots were 42-33 in GP’s favour.

The series for the NPHL title is now tied at one — no one would have predicted an easy series for either team.

Puck drop for game three is 8:30 pm tonight at Memorial Arena.
