Local hockey players compete in U16 cup in Salmon Arm

Three hockey players from the South Peace were in Salmon Arm over the weekend for the 2019 Male U16 BC Cup.

Dawson Creek’s Jace Norman and Chetwynd’s Hayden Smith and Pryce Peats were among the 144 invites to the tournaments, having earned their way by their performances at the regional camps.

Norman is a member of the Dawson Creek Minor Hockey Association, while Peats is part of the North East Zone program and Smith plays at the Yale Hockey Academy in Abbotsford.

Players advancing from the BC Cup will attend the 2019 Provincial Camp, which will be held from July 29 to August 2 at Shawnigan Lake School in Shawnigan Lake, BC.

Meanwhile, Maddox Pierce of the DCMHA was one of 160 players selected for the 2019 Male U15 Provincial Camp that will go at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton BC from May 9 to 12.
