Jakubowski ready to Rock the DC Rink.

Rock the Rink Nationwide tour with Tessa Virtue, Scott Moir, Elvis Stojko, Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond, Carolina Kostner, Jeremy Abbott, and Darlene Jakubowski are to perform at Encana Centre on Friday October 11.

Jakubowski (originally from FSJ) is a decorated worlds 4 time gold, 2 time silver medalist figure skater in the Special Olympics having competed at many national and world level traveling to Boise Idaho, South Korea, and Australia. 

 

 

“The Special Olympics is lots of fun, I get to meet new friends and people from all different countries and I enjoy that” Jakubowski says.  

 

 

Amanda Thomas is Jakubowski’s current coach and was one of her first coaches in Canskate when she was 7. 

 

 

Jakubowski will be skating to song rock this town by Stray Cats during her performance and also will do a routine with her favorite skater Elvis Stojko. 

 

 

When asked if she had advice for young skaters she said “practice, practice it’s really hard work.”
