Honing wins all-tournament player award in US

Roxy Honing joined the Northwest Lady Warriors U.S.A team playing at the U.S. Winter Worlds tournament on November 15-17 in Scotsdale, Arizona. The team placed third overall.

Some highlights for Honing was she won the Winter Worlds All Tournament Player award, batted 500 for the weekend, and played stable defence as a left center fielder.

“I was surprised. It was overwhelming to receive, and an honor to receive the award,” Honing says. “The infields were beautiful, but the outfield was like playing in a hard sand pit.”

“There were teams playing in the 70 year old age category and they were outstanding to watch. They are mentors for us in the sport. Giving incentive to keep playing they were hitting, catching, running, driving for balls.” Honing says.

“I want to thank my sponsor BF Collision, and my team was great, thanks to the U.S. team for having me on board it was a great experience to be able to play at that level and to receive an award was quite honoring,” Honing says.

Next for Honing is playing with the same U.S. team (renamed team Demarini) in January 2020 in Bullhead, Arizona. And also in February 2020 playing at the NSA World Series in Calgary for a Canadian team.

“I’m really excited to go to participate again with these teams.”
