High school basketball kicks off with Snowball Classic

DCSS South Peace and Ron Pettigrew hosted teams from across Northern BC and Alberta for the 2018 Snowball Classic.

In the boys division, DCSS fielded a senior and junior team, as did Beaverlodge, while Ron Pettigrew, Prince George Secondary, North Peace Secondary, and Kelly Road fielded one team.

For the girls division, DCSS had a senior and junior team, while Beaverlodge, GP Composite, Prince George Secondary, Sexsmith, North Peace Secondary, and Kelly Road also competed.

Prince George beat North Peace in both the boys and girls finals to take gold.

The DCSS junior boys beat the seniors 51-40 in the consolation final, earning fourth and fifth respectively, while the DCSS senior girls fell 66-28 in the consolation final to Sexsmith and took fifth.

Ron Pettigrew placed seventh, beating the Beaverlodge junior boys in their final game 47-43.

The Beaverlodge senior girls placed third, while the boys took fourth.
