DCSS athletes high school all stars for volleyball

Two members of the DCSS senior girls volleyball team were in attendance at the Grande Prairie Regional College high school all-star volleyball game last Thursday.

Grade 12 Middle Kristen Gauthier and Grade 11 Outside Hitter Julia Evans made the trip to GP for the games.

Athletes from La Crete, Peace River, Fairview, Eaglesham, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Dawson Creek competed on two teams each for the boys and girls.

Gauthier and Evans were both on team black, who won the first two games 27-25 and 25-14, but dropped the third 17-25.

The annual event also included a chance for the athletes to practice with the collegiate athletes from GPRC.

The senior girls volleyball team had previously finished their season with a ninth place finish at provincials.

Senior boys basketball fought hard, but lost in double overtime in Grande Prairie over the weekend.

The junior boys and girls basketball teams were in Tumbler Ridge.
