DC Karate School happy kicking it in new space

The Dawson Creek Karate School has moved in to a new location — the Alliance Building across from the Nawican Friendship Centre.

They share the space with One Fitness until June 15, when they will take over the space for themselves.

“We’ll have the same classes — Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and every second Sunday for the advanced classes,” says Sensei Bill Dufour, head instructor at the dojo.

After six years in a basement at their previous location, and little bit of sunlight in the above ground dojo was a nice change, not to mention the hardwood floor.

“This place became available and we jumped on it,” says Dufour. “Just brighter, bigger, just nicer.

“We’ve been in the basement for six years over there, and it’s served us well, but it’s time to get some light. It’s really nice to be training on hardwood floors.”

Classes in the new space began on Wednesday, as they are transitioning their stuff to the new space.

“We’re excited, we’re happy to be here,” says Dufour.
