The municipal election in Tumbler Ridge is shaping up to be a lively one with nine names officially submitted a week ahead of the deadline — and only two so far are incumbents.
Incumbent Mayor Don McPherson has started his bid for re-election, and has three challengers — Jerrilyn Schembri, Garret Golhof, and Keith Bertrand.
For council, newcomers Monty Hendrickson, Bernie Lehmann, Curtis Miedzinski, and Chris Norbury have submitted their papers for a bid for a seat.
Of the incumbents, only Darryl Krakowka has put the gears in motion for a re-election bid so far.
Councillor Will Howe told the Mirror previously he was considering a mayoral run, but was “not sure,” while Councillors Helen Scott and Joanne Kirby said previously they were undecided.
