Daycare fees to drop $350 on April 1

It will not be an April Fool’s joke for some parents.

Premier John Horgan says monthly fee reductions of up to $350 at licensed childcare facilities in B.C. are the road towards a $10-a-day daycare system.

Canadian Press says fee reductions, starting April 1, are available to families with children up to kindergarten age who go to licensed child care and whose providers opt into the program.

The government’s three-year plan to build a universal child-care system was announced last month and aims to create more than 22,000 new licensed child-care spaces and cuts costs for up to 86,000 families.
