Bonanza Store - there for neighbours amidst ongoing rural mailbox thefts

With Savanna area post office boxes and more taking a hit from thieves – the Bonanza Store offers up their address as a residential mail option.

“Our store has its own (indoor) mail boxes,” says Kate Turner at the store.

“The ones that were (most recently) vandalized are at the Savanna Store (which has been closed down for some time).  We are the nearest community to Savanna and this would be the closest post office to them as well," she says adding other areas beyond Savanna have been the target of mail thieves.

“Our other neighbouring community with outdoor boxes is Gordondale and they have also experienced multiple acts of vandalism at their pickup spot.”

Turner notes that “Flex Delivery” is a service Canada Post has started offering in the past few years, allowing Canadian residents to pick up their mail at the post office of their choosing.

“We have offered this service for years and have found neighbouring residents to appreciate that our post office is open for all the hours of operation of our General Store.”
