For the time being, there is only one candidate for mayor in the Pouce Coupe municipal election — incumbent Lorraine Michetti.
Councillor Andre Lavoie announced today that he will instead run for re-election for his seat on council, despite having submitted his nomination previously for a mayoral bid.
“Due to personal and family reasons, I have withdrawn my nomination for mayor,” he told The Mirror. “I believe the present mayor and I can again work well together.”
For council, incumbent Barb Smith has submitted her nomination, while Raymond Johnston says he intends to run for re-election. Colleen Evans would not indicate her intentions when asked.
Former councillor Donna White has submitted her papers for a council seat, making her the first official challenger for a seat not currently on council. Michetti told The Mirror previously she expects Marlene Hiebert will run for a seat on council.
