Buildings up for bid in Site C auction

A greenhouse, a woodshed, and chain link fencing — BC Hydro is starting to auction off surplus buildings acquired through its land acquisitions for the Site C dam.

Public bidding on the three listings closes today. Spokesman Dave Conway says the structures are up for sale in response to community members who are interested in the repurposing various buildings now owned by the Crown corporation.

“Where the opportunity to move the buildings exists, BC Hydro is happy to support their re-use in the community,” said Conway.

Current listings include a 1,000-square foot greenhouse with an irrigation and heating system, a 144-square-foot covered woodshed, and 300 feet of chain link fencing.

A number of houses and other structures are set to be demolished this summer in advance of Highway 29 reconstruction.

Conway says additional surplus sales and demolitions are expected later this year, and in future years.
