The political climate up here perhaps hasn’t changed much since the election and however MLA Mike Bernier says the north and south ridings are working together as well as ever.

“It’s a uniformed front. Matters like oil and gas, Site C, resources, we want what was best for the people,” he says.

When back in Parliament, he says it will be a bit different on the other side of the house.

“We get into more of the debate rhetoric (as Opposition), however we are taking our lumps and waiting for the next election as a party.

Indeed all one has to to do is look at a recent $15 an hour promise with a 2021 deadline that has since been shelved in favour of an independent review panel with potentially a brand new timeline.  Labour Minister Harry Bains told the Times-Colonist he agrees with Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver about a deadline being to restricting.

Bernier says time will tell if a new hospital is in the cards for Dawson Creek with a new government at the helm.

“We were at a commitment to move to the next stage and a business case was to be made. This was a needed project. Will they forge ahead or take it off the books? There are budget debates coming up.”

Indeed it begins this Monday.
