I want to express my sincere thanks to Candace Weatherby for her clear and concise relating of her family's experience dealing with Northern Health on behalf of their mother.
In the past several years I have been hearing more and more similar stories. It is unconscionable the situation has been allowed to grow in Dawson Creek and there is now a population of more than 18 people sitting in limbo for months on end for a resident placement. To my mind it is somewhat ironic that a hospital being considered the worst place for infection is considered all right for warehousing for frail seniors.
I am 93 years old and very cognizant of the fact that any given day I could find myself in the same situation as Mrs. McGowan with my family unable to help in my situation. What must it be like for those poor souls who have no family to speak for them?
It’s a disgraceful situation and the Ministry of Health and Northern Health should be ashamed.
