An editor on elected officials

See if you can spot this one. Maybe the only administrators will pick this one up, I don’t know. When elected officials thumb through their agendas for the first time in front of us at any meeting, we know.

Read those agendas, don't try to freestyle. You're not slowhand.

See if you can spot this one.

Maybe the only administrators will pick this one up, I don’t know. When elected officials thumb through their agendas for the first time in front of us at any meeting, we know. We know they haven’t read it, and are reading it for the first time right now in front of us.

I’ve seen it on almost on every single elected board or council lo the last 20 years, and on many, often all/every non-profit board around the tables at which people sit.

Whether you are the new face on council, or the dinosaur still chewing the plants, we know.  Goes that way. You get the agenda days in advance. Come on. Read it before rolling into the meeting(s).

Makes me remember the length of time I’ve been doing this. I've sworn inside my head every time I watch that scan for the first time, claiming not enough information. Like actors struggling for their line. Weak.

Until next time.
