A question for you - who is responsible?

With regards to Covid-19, I would say our leadership has been doing a superb job, especially here in B.C.

I have been avoiding the topic of the Coronavirus simply because it has been addressed in every possible way and from almost every source for the past few months. Quite frankly we are becoming a little dubious of it, and little doubt that is because we have not yet reaped its full impact as others have. Still we are being justly and wisely warned to not let our guard down. It is not over.
One huge question that has been glossed over and is not being publicly asked is, “Is this the Judgment of God?” We have seen pictures of men on their knees in the streets pleading with God for mercy. I for one was totally blessed to see men humble themselves before the Almighty. We may want to ridicule, but we too can be brought to our knees. I must say, and I am sure many of you will concur, that throughout this event we have had a glimpse of how truly vulnerable we actually are. This quote by President Abraham Lincoln speaks volumes: “I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.”
Getting back to the topic of the Judgment of God, we know that God has the ultimate control and we are constantly at His mercy. We also know from the Bible that God does judge the nations as well as the individual. But is this pandemic His judgment, or is it merely a reaping of natural causes? To avoid unnecessary argument, I would say it is a little of both. It sort of reminds me of the sinking of the Titanic. It has been questioned that someone of importance with regards to the Titanic allegedly said, “Even God Himself could not sink this ship.” Well I for one, had I known that he had said that, would have cancelled my ticket. (For interest sake, I recently learned that my Mother’s mother missed the Titanic’s maiden voyage because she broke her ankle. I am glad today she missed the boat, and hopefully some of you are too - just a little humor).
We know that God is wonderfully gracious and merciful, and overlooks much of our foolishness with the hopes of winning our love, but He is not to be trifled with. Like so many others, I have followed that Titanic story again and again, considered all the events reported and have come to the conclusion that God did not sink the Titanic, man did. It has all the earmarks of human folly. They were arrogant and presumptuous. They ignored all the warnings and failed to take some critical precautions. To me it seems that God merely let them have their own way. We have no idea how often He spares us from disasters, and even our own folly. All those precious lives lost were their responsibility.
With regards to Covid-19, I would say our leadership has been doing a superb job, especially here in B.C. In my pathetic opinion, God has given mankind all the tools and knowledge of how we should conduct ourselves, not only socially and morally, but also scientifically. We know the safety procedures and protocols. If we fail to heed them, we can expect to reap the ensuing consequences, and we will have no one else to blame but ourselves.
