Kodiaks lose 5-2 to Huskies

The Kodiaks lost 5-2 to the Huskies on Saturday, blowing an early 2-0 lead.
Silas Reeds prevents a Huskies goal, as goalie Corey Ross scrambles back to the net. The Kodiaks lost in Fort St. John, 5-2, November 20.

The Dawson Creek Kodiaks drove north to Fort St. John last night, looking for their second win of the weekend and first of the year against the Huskies, but were unable to do so, losing 5-2. The Kodiaks took a 2-0 lead over the Huskies four minutes into the game thanks to a couple Fort St. John mistakes, but were unable to get that crucial third goal, as the Huskies showed why they only have one loss on the season.

Tristan Williams and Brandon Rowley each had a goal and an assist in this game. Corey Ross kept his team in the game, until the Huskies broke out for three in the third. Though the Kodiaks have lost all four games to the Huskies, they have put up a fight in each game. Dawson Creek did beat the Sexsmith Vipers 2-0 on Friday, November 19 to come out of the weekend with 2 points.

Dawson Creek remains in fifth place, with an 8-10 record and 16 points. The 10-8-1 County of Grande Prairie Kings have increased the gap between second and fifth place to five points, but the second spot is very much still there for the taking as we near the halfway point of the season. The Kodiaks have gone 6-4 in their last 10 games, and are a much better squad than the one that opened the year 2-6.

The Kodiaks will look to add four more points next weekend when they host the 8-11-1 Fairview Flyers Friday, November 26, and travel to Grande Prairie on Saturday, November 27.
