Hythe Motor Speedway season opener cancelled due to weather

South Peace racing fans will have to wait a bit longer to feel the thrill of live racing, as Hythe Motor Speedway cancelled this weekend's season opener today due to the rain forecasted to fall all weekend.

"We were so excited to get back to the track and share an amazing weekend with all our race family, but It appears that mother nature is not a race fan and with all the beautiful weather we have had it is very disheartening," read the statement.

The Raceway executive made the decision to cancel the weekend early as drivers were planning to drive up today from Calgary, Edmonton, Dawson Creek and other places.

The season opener is rescheduled for August 7.
