The Peace River Regional District is inviting people to Rolla to talk about trash – literally.

There will be a PRRD open house at the Rolla Transfer Station from 10 am to noon on Sat. July 16.

“The district manages a series of transfer stations in rural locations,”says PRRD Solid Waste Coordinator Loryn Day.

Day noted Rolla is a Tier II transfer station.

“Therefor it takes recycling and collection containers, paper, cardboards, plastics. It also take household garbage and has a compactor that comes with a volume based fee.”

Day said it was important for people to learn what is in the community.

“This is an opportunity to learn a little bit more,” she said.

She added the morning will be filled with activities as the public can learn about waste reduction and how local transfer stations work.

The Rolla Transfer station is location at 5207 213 Rd.
