STARS provides update to City of Dawson Creek

Critical care. In the air.

Representatives from STARS Air Ambulance are presenting this morning to City of Dawson Creek officials with a 2022 update.

Glenda Farnden, Senior Municipal Relations Liaison and Jon Gogan, Provincial Director, Northern & Central Alberta Operations, STARS are on hand.

“The City of Dawson Creek is part of PRRD partnership supporting STARS since we brought a base to Grande Prairie 16 years ago,” said Farnden adding both cities and counties are working together.

“Urban and rural together are supporting each other and STARS with a fixed rate or multi year grants. Dawson Creek is part of united municipal effort that ensures we all have access to robust safety network.”

Jon Gogan, Provincial Director, Northern & Central Alberta Operations, said the new helicopters are nothing but a plus.

It was noted since 2010, 69 people within the PRRD, including 31 with Dawson Creek postal codes have flown STARS as patients – with access to hospital care across western Canada.

"STARS is such an amazing program and important part of our area," said mayor Darcy Dober.
