Tourism Dawson Creek has announced their shop local this Christmas campaign.

Taking place December 8 to 22, it is an effort to promote and encourage shopping local this holiday season. Shoppers can be entered to win giveaway prizes valued at over $500, featuring local downtown businesses.

Local shoppers will be able to enter this draw by sharing social media posts from the Tourism Dawson Creek Facebook page, featuring each participating business and will be encouraged to bring in receipts from these businesses from the month of December to the Dawson Creek Visitor Centre for additional entries. Check out the Tourism Dawson Creek Facebook for more information and updates regarding the contest.

Participating businesses include Vintage & Restoration Love, Faking Sanity, B&T, Infinity Crafts, Beardless Barber, Soul Comfort Gifts, The Hive Creative Collective and more to come. The Dawson Creek Chamber of Commerce is also a partner.

Why Buy Local?

Tourism notes that BC local businesses employ 1.1 million residents, creating 4 out of 10 jobs. Local businesses make 31 percent of their purchases from other BC businesses and keep 63 percent of revenue in BC, compared to 14% for multinationals. Tourism notes BC businesses create eight times more jobs and revenue per sq. ft than multinationals.

“Tourism Dawson Creek encourages the promotion of shopping local to create a stronger community this holiday season and into the new year.”
