DC RCMP are doubling down to again remind the general public keeping your vehicle safe.

Dawson Creek RCMP suggest the following:

Vehicles should not be left running unattended.

Not to store vehicle keys inside the vehicle.

Have a GPS tracker on the vehicle, whether it is an aftermarket add on or through the manufacturer.

Avoid leaving valuables inside a vehicle. If you do, secure them out of sight.

Alternatives to having a vehicle run while remaining secure include using a remote start, physical immobilizer such as a steering wheel lock, or a secure idle device. Published previously, most thefts of property or of vehicles are a crime of opportunity and the Dawson Creek RCMP urge the community to protect their belongings to help decrease the chance of thefts from occurring.
