With vaccination rates in Northeast BC lower than provincial averages – vaccination sites could be popping up around the Peace this summer.
Potential pop-up poke locations are a hot topic among the troops at Northern Health, said Dr. Bonnie Henry to the Dawson Creek Mirror Tuesday.
“This was a discussion I had with colleagues in Northern Health today. People had good ideas of where a popup clinic would work in their community,” she said noting the idea of picking up fresh fruits and vegetables along with a vaccine has appeal.
“Going to the Saturday farmer's market and having a pop up there,” said Henry on Tuesday.
“If you have ideas, they are willing to work with you to see if we can put up a pop-up clinic in your community.”
During the conversation Health Minister Adrian Dix said proximity to Alberta was also a consideration.
“People who live in the northeast are just as vulnerable (living) right next door to Alberta as anywhere else, and we need people in that region to get vaccinated.”
