Police recover 174 guns from Vancouver senior, take him to hospital

Vancouver police seized 174 guns.

Vancouver police spent some time moving guns out of a Vancouver man's house this week.

On Friday, Oct. 8, a wellness check was done at the request of a doctor by the Vancouver Police Department's Car 87 program (which is called in for mental health emergencies). Police found the 76-year-old man in his West 15 Avenue and Granville Street in poor condition.

In a tweet, Deputy Chief Fiona Wilson notes that while there, officers recovered 174 guns. Most of them were vintage, with some from the Second World War, according to the Vancouver Police Department. Police seized them as they weren't stored safely.

The senior, who suffers from dementia, was taken to urgent care due to his condition, state police.
