Dawson Creek's David Rattigan and Elena Warkentin of Fort St. John are advance winners of the Moberly Lake Mando.
The pair joined Peace Region disc golfers gathered at the Moberly Lake Golf Course July 18, for the second annual Moberly Lake Mando. There were 51 players from Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Grande Prairie, Chetwynd, and elsewhere. Both the Fort St. John Disc Sports Club and the Dawson Creek Disc Golf Club loaned baskets to create the course for the tournament.
"Rain prevented golf carts from being used, so the players had to navigate the very sloped and slippery terrain on foot. Other than the weather, the event was great and went off without a hitch. Players got to tee off to their favourite pump up song and were treated with an amazing lunch. We look forward to having this next year," said tournament director Clint Warkentin, adding that he would like to see a permanent course be installed at Moberly Lake.
