Dawson Creek RCMP Dawson Creek Citizens on Patrol are having their next meeting this Wednesday Jan. 11 – at the DC RCMP detachment.

The volunteer groups is ramping back up and is looking for new and returning faces.

Cst. Jeremiah Budd said it was important for COP and RCMP to work together – and build relationships with officers on duty.

“Number of volunteers are less important compared to time put in,” adds Budd. COP and the local RCMP are looking for a new cell phone number for immediate contact ability with the detachment.

Last month in addition to RCMP officers, Art Seidel was on hand to bring some history and context from the South Peace Crime Association perspective to the public at a Dec 14 meeting held at KPAC.

“The South Peace Crime Association provides liability insurance to groups working with us,” adds COP lead and former RCMP member John Vetter.

“It’s time to get the community on board. We have been in operation for 30 plus years,” he said.

The group's next meeting will be January 11 – and will be held at the RCMP detachment 6:30pm.
