This year's Citizen of the Year Award goes to Dr Magda Du Plessis, while Rosalynne Mullin has been named Entrepreneur of the Year.

Dr Du Plessis has been working very hard behind the scenes to keep our medical community stable. After the departure of half our doctors, she was instrumental in recruiting the group of new doctors to our community. Not only does she run her own clinic, she also initiated the new maternity care clinic -Chickadee- that is being used as the new proposed model of care for prenatal delivery service in BC. Furthermore, she stepped into the role of Medical Director to serve the needs of the South Peace.

Rosalynne Mullin has created a business that benefits many children and families of Dawson Creek. She started out when her children were small by ordering a few pieces of gymnastics equipment. She has now created a space that offers gymnastics, ninja academy, childcare, preschool, and transportation for children to travel from school to the centre. With the growth of the services she offers, she bought a building big enough to host all of the above, which was formerly a church. It's a beautiful space for children to learn and grow.

Winners of this year's Community Awards will be announced at the December 6, 2022 Regular Meeting of Council.
