Charges laid in recent DC drug and gun bust

Fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, cash, stolen property, airsoft pistols, brass knuckles, boxes of ammunition and a sawed-off semi-automatic shotgun were seized by RCMP in Dawson Creek over the weekend.

Charges are now pending for a pair in relation to a recent Dawson Creek residential drug bust.

Philip Andrew Strickland faces 12 charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking in fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine along with further charges of unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Deserea Elizabeth Williams was also charged with multiple counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, cash, stolen property, airsoft pistols, brass knuckles, boxes of ammunition and a sawed-off semi-automatic shotgun were seized by RCMP in Dawson Creek over the weekend.

Dawson Creek RCMP seized quantities of substances after executing simultaneous search warrants at properties located in the 1300-block of 107th Avenue. The warrants were related to active criminal investigations into suspected drug trafficking in the area.

Seven people were arrested during the execution of the search warrant. Individuals were identified and subsequently released, pending further investigation.

These investigations are a priority of the detachment and we continue to focus on those involved in this type of criminal activity, said Cpl Andrew Brand with Dawson Creek RCMP.

The matter will be submitted to Public Prosecution Service of Canada for consideration of charges in Possession of the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, and unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm.
