A DC cartoonist hailing from ‘toon town? An editor just can’t pass that up.

Starting today, Meagan Longley will be bringing her style, wit, and art to the Dawson Creek Mirror.

A graduate of the NLC Visual and Graphic Communication Arts program, with a Diploma of Commercial Animation from Capilano University in Vancouver, Longley has always found art appealing and has made pictures of some form or fashion since infancy.

She hopes to bring a pictorial look that riffs on current DC affairs and events.

“I love to see Canadian life and culture reflected in art, and I want to see Dawson issues and DC living covered in specific,” she said.

Born in Saskatoon, Longley says she moved around Canada before settling in the Mile 0 City. She expects to bring a few different mediums to the old-school traditional frame of the cartoonist.

“More art from Peace artists about the Peace Region is what it is all about.”

Longley says the DC arts scene is unparalleled.

“From the Art Gallery, to the Calvin Kruk Centre of the Arts, to the many people involved in the art scene in our community, I’d sure like to see more of (that) it in the paper.”

The editor can’t pass that up either.
