ENVIRONMENT CANADA HAS ISSUED A THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR THE SOUTH PEACE:

2:20 PM PDT Sunday 31 July 2022
Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • B.C. South Peace River

At 2:20 p.m. MST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

The thunderstorm will impact the community of Tumbler Ridge as well as portions of Highways 29 and 52 near Tumbler Ridge.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
