A second elected official in the Village of Pouce Coupe has tendered their resignation – but again it may not be one people suspect.
Councillor Donna White has tendered her resignation effective immediately due to medical reasons.
“Under doctors advice I am doing this for my health,” she said this morning citing a series of medical related issues.
White's resignation is the second after Ken Drover resigned earlier this year in February. White had taken on many of Drover’s portfolio positions abandoned, as well as many stripped by council from Mayor Lorraine Michetti.
White was also the village’s alternative representative on the PRRD board after Michetti. White said there are internal issues existing prior to Michetti’s infamous social media posts concerning pipeline construction earlier this year.
“We have had countless in camera meetings all throughout last year. Council needs to start focusing on the business of the village, not internal conflicts.”
Michetti said she was disappointed in hearing of White's resignation. White was previously a councillor in the village from 1993 to 1996. White ran again in 2018.
In February - village CAO Chris Leggett said with so much time before the next municipal election - a by election would be triggered should any member of council or the mayor step down. The next municipal election is slated for October 15, 2022.
