The Wild, Scarlet Sway, and the Mechanical Botanicals will be bringing some class to FSJ this weekend.

Kin Club president Collin Budd says beyond those bands, the Fort St. John Kin Club’s RocKIN the Peace returns this weekend for a 12th year of keeping it local.

“The focus is still on musicians in the Peace Region and that’s the way it should be. We’ve got a lot of incredible musicians up here that just get passed over,” he said. Local FSJ acts include This is the Silence, The Boreal, Soundlife Statement and Road Worn.

Budd says bringing established bands would not only be special for local acts to share the stage with, but will hopefully increase the fundraising for the event, Budd said.

“It’d be pretty badass to share a real rock stage with a real rock band,” he said about the local bands.

A $1,500 judge’s selection and a $1,000 people’s choice prize are both up for grabs. The band the judges select will also have a spot at next year’s Grizfest.

RocKIN The Peace takes place Sept. 23 at 7 pm at the Pomeroy Hotel. For more information call 250-329-6626.
