On November 16th at approximately 6:22pm Dawson Creek RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 97S and Braden Road.
Investigation determined that a vehicle traveling southbound on Braden Road failed to come to a stop prior to entering the highway resulting in a collision with two other vehicles. Roadways were snow-covered and slippery at the time, with the region just having ended a snow-fall warning. Serious and life threatening injuries resulted with one of the drivers being air-lifted to Vancouver for urgent treatment.
Dawson Creek RCMP would like to remind drivers to take care in winter driving conditions.
The arrival of winter and snow-fall requires that drivers slow their speed relative to road and weather conditions. Give yourself additional time to drive to your location, ensure that your tires have sufficient tread and are rated for driving in the snow, wear your seatbelt and drive defensively.
In heavy snow-fall conditions consider not driving if you do not have to, wait until the snow-fall has ended, and give enough time for the roadways to be cleared.
