WorkSafe BC confirms DC work fatality

Officials with WorkSafe BC have confirmed a work-related death in Dawson Creek this afternoon.

"I can confirm that WorkSafeBC was notified on June 2 about a serious workplace incident," said Ivy Yuen with WorkSafe this afternoon.

Yuen notes that WorkSafeBC is investigating.

"The primary purpose of our investigation is to identify the cause of the incident, including any contributing factors, so that similar incidents can be prevented from happening in the future," she said.

"As you can appreciate, we only have preliminary information at this time and we aren't able to discuss any details about this incident while the investigation is underway."

A witness on scene confirmed the death this morning to the Mirror.

"It was around 4pm on the 15th street road construction job," they said.
