They need a Mile Zero rise in votes - local bakers need your help

Local bakers Kimberly Shipton and Krista Forshner are looking for your votes for round two of The Greatest Baker, a worldwide competition for bakers and baking enthusiasts.

Forshner is the owner of Kosmic Krumbs, a custom baking business that focuses on cakes and cupcakes. She says she entered the contest after being tagged multiple times by friends and family on Facebook.

“I’m known a little bit around town and the Peace Region,” said Forshner. “I’ve done a lot of weddings and little events, it’s just something I love to do.”

Forshner was born and raised in Dawson Creek, and says her business grew from a passion for baking.

“It started out as a hobby, but the amount of people who get me to do their baking, their cakes and things like that,” said Forshner. “So I started a little thing that was close to my heart.”

Shipton is a childhood friend of Forshner, and the two have shared baking tips for years.

“Both of us entered for fun, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised at the support we’ve gotten through Dawson Creek,” said Shipton, who runs Splattered Batter, another cake and cupcake business.

The two need to hit first place in each of their groups to advance to the next round. Voting goes live until Thursday.
