Peace Region court docket Nov. 14 - 18

A summary of what happened in Peace Region provincial courts for the week ending Nov. 18. There were no dispositions that week in Tumbler Ridge, Fort Nelson or Hudson's Hope.

Dawson Creek

Clayton Jarrett Beaulieu (born 1989) was handed a three-month jail sentence, related sentences and a victim surcharge of $200 on a charge of possessing a loaded or unloaded firearm that is prohibited stemming from a May 7 2015 incident. He was also given a three-year jail sentence, related sentence, a victim surcharge of $200, firearms prohibitions, and a DNA order on a charge of break and enter to commit an indictable offence. 

Curtis Eli Chowace (born 1978) was given a zero-day jail sentence and a $100 victim surcharge on a charge of breach of probation; a zero-day jail sentence and $100 victim surcharge on another charge of breach of probation; a zero-day jail sentence and a $100 victim surcharge on another charge of breach of probation; and a seven-day jail sentence and $100 victim surcharge on a charge of breach of probation.

Laurie Ann Strong (born 1983) was handed a six-month conditional sentence, conditions and a $100 fine on a charge of breach of probation; a six-month conditional sentence, conditions and a fine of $100 on a charge of breach of probation. She was also given a six-month conditional sentence and a $100 fine on a charge of theft $5000 or under; and a six-month conditional sentence and $357.50 restitution fee and a $100 fine on a charge of theft $5,000 or under. On charges theft under $5,000 or breach of undertaking or recognizance, Strong was given a conditional sentence of 6 months and a $100 fine. She was also given a one-year probation order and suspended sentence and a $200 fine on a charge of theft under $5000 and breach of undertaking or recognizance; and restitution of $1,092, a $200 fine and year-long conditions and a suspended sentence on a charge of theft over $5000. 

Chetwynd

Joel J. L. Babin (born 1967) was given a $500 fine, a $75 victim surcharge, a 30-day jail sentence and a driving prohibition on a charge of driving while prohibited/license suspended. 

John C. H. Blue (born 1975) was handed a sentence of 14 days in jail, a $500 fine, a driving prohibition and a $75 victim surcharge for driving while prohibited/license suspended. 

Kenneth L. Hopkins (born 1986) was fined $1000 and given a $150 victim surcharge and driving prohibitions for driving while prohibited. 

Tess C. Little Chief (born 1995) was given a 12-month conditional discharge, a 12 month probation order, conditions, and a victim surcharge of $100 on a charge of assault.

Todd M. Long (born 1968) was handed a fine of $500, a victim surcharge of $75 and a 12-month driving prohibition on a charge of driving while prohibited/license suspended.

Kenneth R. Mackay (born 1962) was given a fine of $500, a one-year driving prohibition, and a $150 victim surcharge on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while disqualified. 

Braden J. Wallington (born 1992) was given a ten-day jail sentence, a $500 fine, a victim surcharge of $75 and a driving prohibition on a charge of driving while prohibited/license suspended. Wallington was also given a 30-day jail sentence, a $100 victim surcharge and a driving prohibition on a charge of failure or refusal to provide a sample. 

Fort St. John

Montgomery James Nelligan (born 1990) was handed a $100 victim surcharge for one count breach of an undertaking or recognizance.

Curtis Jeffrey Bagan (born 1991) was ordered to pay $200 in restitution and ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge for one count of mischief under $5,000. Bagan was also handed an additional $100 victim surcharge for one count of reporting an offence committed when it was not. 

Shane John Michael Danahy (born 1965) was fined $500 and ordered to pay a $75 victim surcharge for one count of driving while prohibited/licence suspended.

Nicole Sarah Reimer (born 1989) was fined $1,500, handed a one-year driving ban, and ordered to pay a $450 victim surcharge for being in care or control of a vehicle/vessel with over .08 blood/alcohol. 

Michael Ricky Andrew Stafford (born 1993) was fined $500 and ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge for driving while prohibited/licence suspended.

Jamie Alison Dennis (born 1984) given a conditional discharge, handed a six-month probation order, and ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge for one count breach of undertaking or recognizance. 

Brenda Lee Lumsden (born 1969) was handed a one-year driving ban and ordered to pay a $50 victim surcharge for driving while prohibited. Lumsden was also fined $500 for one count of fear of injury/damage by another person. 

Michael Stephen Maceachern (born 1979) was fined $500 for one count of fear of injury/damage by another person. 

Cory Edward Nome (born 1993) was given a conditional discharge, handed a 12-month probation order, and ordered to pay a $200 victim surcharge for being in possession of property obtained by crime.
