One person facing manslaughter charges after body discovered at home

One person is in custody and facing manslaughter charges after a body was discovered at a Dawson Creek home over the weekend. 

On Nov. 12, Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a report of death at a residence on 116th Ave., where investigators found a body.

The age, name and gender of the victim have not been released.

Police called in the North District Major Crime Unit to assist in the investigation, and say there is no risk to the general public. 

Police arrested a suspect, who is facing a charge of manslaughter. Police did not release any details on the person in custody, but according to court records, Candice Dawn Shearer is facing a manslaughter charge stemming from an incident on Nov. 12. 

Shearer was set to go before a judge for a bail hearing at 2 p.m. Nov. 14. However, the hearing was later rescheduled to Nov. 17. 

Police had not released any additional details as of 2 p.m. Monday.
