Dr. Bonnie Henry has amended existing provincial health orders for nightclubs and banquet halls serving liquor - they have been mandated to close.
"These venues are still a source of significant risk. We adjusted the orders in the past, and we are seeing transmission still," said Henry this afternoon.
"As a result, public health needs to take care of everyone. We need to make sure we can track people to stop transmission."
"These measures reflect an assessment of the evidence," echoed Health Minister Adrian Dix.
Liquor sales in all bars, pubs and restaurants must now end by 10pm, and establishments must close by 11pm.
Music on televisions and on sound systems, must be now no louder than normal conversations.
"We recognize these venues have tried, and we have made adjustments, but exposure are happening, now staff and customers are still at risk. We need to find the correct balance for the next six months to a year as we deal with COVID-19," said Henry.
