LVCU celebrates 75 years

Last week, Lake View Credit Union celebrated their 75th anniversary on a sunny afternoon.

It was originally established in Dawson Creek in 1943, with 12 members. In about a year, they say it had grown to 141 members. They expanded to Chetwynd in 1974, and to Tumbler Ridge in 2001.

“75 years ago this August, a handful of farmers and pioneers, unable to secure stable financing and financial services for themselves and their community formed our credit union,” said CEO Lori Archibald.

“The fact that we’re here today in celebration of Lake View’s 75th anniversary is a testament to their wisdom and foresight,” she continued.

“They had an appreciation for what it means to be community, for what it means to unite and work together for the betterment of all of our residents and their quality of life.”

Today, LVCU has over 10,500 members throughout the South Peace.
