Students with ideas for businesses, there’s a competition for you.
The Junior Dragons Den Northeast BC Regional Competition will be hosted here in Dawson Creek. (There will also be one in Fort St. John). While the competition goes April 11, the deadline to register — and submit a business concept plan — is Friday, March 15.
Students in grade six to 12, as well as postsecondary students up to age 25, are eligible for the competition, which will see the top five applicants in each category pitch their business ideas — with detailed business plans and financial statements — in front of business leaders and a live audience on April 11.
The five applicants chosen will be paired with mentors from the community, who will help refine the pitch, as well as give pointers on the presentation.
The first and second place winners from each age category will receive awards and automatically advance to compete in the provincial competition that will be announced closer to the date.
There are cash prizes available for business start-up, expansion, as well as tuition for future education.
Applications are available at www.communityfutures.biz. For further information, contact Tracy at 250-219-2598.
