It is raining, and more is expected to fall

Potential for higher amounts likely near Hudson's Hope, Chetwynd, and Tumbler Ridge.

Weather experts and bloggers who report about the skies note periods of heavy rainfall with are still expected for the south Peace through Saturday morning.

Environment Canada says a low pressure system will drift across central BC today into Alberta by Saturday morning.

“Organized rainbands with embedded thunderstorms will circulate around this system, impacting the BC Peace, Williston and McGregor regions.” 

Recreational areas along higher terrain and Route 97 through Pine Pass could see total rainfall amounts exceed 70 mm. Rainfall rates associated with thunderstorms could reach 5 to 15 mm per hour. 

“Widespread rainfall totals of 50 to 70 mm are expected by Saturday morning with the potential for higher amounts likely near Hudson's Hope, Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge.” 

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is also expected.
