The first of the City of Dawson Creek’s special budget meetings open to the public goes this Monday at 1 pm at City Hall, following the conclusion of the regular council meeting.
“The Council of the City of Dawson Creek believes that future quality of life in the community will be compromised if current trends in revenues and expenditures are not addressed,” notes a stewardship statement included in the announcement of the said meetings.
“Revenues are not growing fast enough to fund predicted future expenditures, especially for necessary infrastructure. Council intends to develop a range of solutions to protect the future of the community and urges our current citizens to actively engage with us in this vital work.”
On Monday, February 25, a second budget meeting is planned, and a public consultation is scheduled for Monday, March 11, before a third budget meeting on Monday, April 8.
The first three readings of the financial plan and tax rate bylaws will go Wednesday, May 1, while Friday, May 3 will see the adoption.
All such special budget meetings will be held at City Hall at 1 pm.
