DC declares September Disability Employment Month

For the month of September, Dawson Creek notes the importance of hiring people with disabilities.

Making the proclamation at a recent council meeting, Mayor Dale Bumstead noted the many benefits.

“Hiring people with disabilities provides a mutual benefit for employers, employees and communities across the province, including Dawson Creek and area,” he said.

“People with disabilities make great employees and it is proven that businesses experience fewer turnovers when they invest in a person with disabilities as they typically have higher rates of retention and are five times more likely to stay on the job than people who do not have a disability.”
