Dawson Creek Festival of Trees grows into second year

Last year, Sudeten Hall was transformed into an enchanted Christmas forest, and organizers are hoping for the same vibe and flavour this year at the GDI.

November 24 will see funds raised to help support Dawson Creek families at Christmas, including families who need a decked out Christmas tree. Last year, more than $30,000 was grossed from the event.

Janine Cumberland with the group says they are in the midst of approaching businesses and other groups to sponsor a tree or other donations.

“Sponsors may choose to design their own trees with work with a design team,” she says. The trees are decorated with a theme, displayed, and auctioned off.

“Last year was such a strong first year for the event and we’d like it to become an annual Dawson Creek holiday tradition,” says Cumberland.

“This year, the DCAG will be hosting a walk through the GDI and meet Santa for kids from 11 to 2pm as well.”

The gala event and trees auction action goes on November 24, doors at 7 and with live auction at 7:30pm.

Tickets available at the Enchanted Florist or by calling 250-782-3610. Community businesses looking to sponsor a tree or to donate please call for more information.
