The Mercer Hall inside the Encana Events Centre will now be named the Co-op Mercer Hall, it was officially announced at a ceremony at the hall this afternoon.

The Co-op Mercer Hall — named after Dawson Creek namesake George Mercer Dawson — has already hosted 17 events. The multipurpose space hosts meetings, conventions, wedding receptions, and smaller events that aren't a fit for the arena.

"Dawson Co-op has been a foundational business in Dawson Creek and the South Peace region for 98 years," says Ryan MacIvor, Spectra's General Manager for the EEC.

"Both of our organizations are invested in supporting our community," says Rod Hillary, General Manager of Dawson Co-op. "We truly look forward to this partnership and the opportunities it brings."

Dawson Co-op will also become a title sponsor of the Health, Wellness, and Lifestyle Expo on Saturday, February 16 at the Encana Events Centre.
