Council officially reduces per diem

Dawson Creek City Council officially agreed to a policy lowering their per diem rate for travel outside the PRRD for staff and council from $125 per day to $75 per day.

Assuming the same amount of per diems are used as in 2018, this would allow $ 9,140 in savings for the City.

While council had passed such a motion at the January 14 council meeting, staff had to draft a policy to put it into effect.

The policy also sees to it that if one or more meals are provided, the person can return a portion of the per diem — breakfast $15, lunch $20, supper $40.
