City, province, more named in Rotary Lake suit

Mile Zero Park, the City of Dawson Creek and the province have each been named in a lawsuit by Todd and Brandie Park, who claim they did nothing despite knowing children could be pulled under the water by unsafe drainpipe at the park.

According to the coroner’s report, the lid of the drain was taken off, and created a vacuum, sucking Beverly Park’s legs into the drain, pulling her head below the water.

Earlier this year the city heard from provincial officials, who noted work was done at the park after the drowning and after the province closed the pool.
