City goes with Winnipeg firm for DC airport management

The City of Dawson Creek has partnered with Winnipeg Airport Services Corp. (WASCO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Winnipeg Airports Authority, to provide airport management services for the next three years at Dawson Creek Regional Airport. 

In 2019, WASCO and the City of Dawson Creek, signed a one-year agreement for the company to begin overseeing and managing YDQ. This new contract represents a three-year extension of WASCO’s services to help refine practices and deliver innovative solutions to enhance the overall operation of the airport. The subsidiary of Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) leverages its team of industry experts and extensive resources to deliver cost-effective aviation services at 33 different airports across Canada, including Dawson Creek Regional Airport.

“WASCO, with the support of the entire WAA team, is seasoned at helping airports of all sizes operate and function with increased efficiencies for the benefit of the community,” said Michael O’Gorman, Managing Director of WASCO.

“Our team has spent time touring Dawson Creek Airport to evaluate the areas where we can add the greatest value. This partnership is an exciting opportunity for us to implement meaningful change for operational compliance, exceeding industry standards and carrying out our strategic business plan to build a strong foundation at YDQ.”

Dawson Creek is one of three Canadian airports to receive airport management services on behalf WASCO, adding to The Pas, MB and Iqaluit, NU.

Mayor Dale Bumstead said the City of Dawson Creek welcomes this partnership agreement with WASCO.

“We look forward to seeing what the next three years will bring under WASCO’s leadership to help YDQ flourish for the benefit of the entire Peace River Region.”
